Voices Shaping Canadian Pharma

In-depth conversations with the executives, scientists, regulators, and innovators driving Canada’s pharmaceutical and life sciences landscape forward.

Every policy decision, every drug approval, every market access breakthrough, every biosimilar launch — behind each one is a person who made it happen. A regulatory affairs director who navigated a complex submission. A biotech founder who built a company from a university lab. A patient advocate who fought for formulary access. A market access leader who rewrote the reimbursement playbook.

The Pharma Canada Interviews exists to bring those voices forward.

The Pharma Canada Interviews is our long-form conversation series — in-depth, candid, and unscripted dialogue with the executives, scientists, regulators, clinicians, and innovators who are actively shaping Canada’s pharmaceutical and life sciences landscape.

These are not press releases. They are not scripted corporate profiles. They are real conversations with real leaders, going deeper than the headline to explore the thinking, strategy, and experience behind the decisions that define this industry.

Our interview subjects span every corner of Canada’s pharma and life sciences ecosystem.

C-Suite Leaders are the executives driving strategy at Canada’s pharmaceutical companies — from the presidents of multinational subsidiaries to the founders of homegrown generics firms. We explore their commercial vision, their read on the Canadian market, and the leadership decisions that have defined their careers.

Regulatory Experts include senior professionals from Health Canada, regulatory affairs consultancies, and industry associations. With Canada’s regulatory framework evolving rapidly — particularly around Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products, real-world evidence, and biosimilar policy — these conversations offer rare insight into how the rules of the game are being written.

Clinical Researchers from Canada’s leading academic medical centres and contract research organisations bring the science into focus. From oncology to rare diseases, from gene therapy to GLP-1s, these interviews explore what is actually being tested, what the data is showing, and what it means for Canadian patients.

Patient Advocates represent the voice that too rarely sits at the industry table. The Pharma Canada is committed to platforming the leaders of Canada’s patient organisations — people who understand the reimbursement gap, the access crisis, and the lived experience of navigating a healthcare system that does not always move fast enough.

Startup Founders building Canada’s next generation of life sciences companies share their origin stories, their fundraising journeys, their regulatory challenges, and their vision for what Canadian biotech can become on the global stage.

Policy Makers from health ministries, CADTH, INESSS, and pan-Canadian health organisations offer perspective on the structural forces shaping drug access, pricing, and reimbursement across the country.

Our Two Interview Formats

The Pharma Canada Interviews are published across two distinct formats, each designed for a different kind of engagement.

Email Q&A

Not every important voice has an hour to spare. Our Email Q&A format is designed for the executive who is between flights, the researcher in the middle of a trial, and the policy professional navigating a packed legislative calendar.

We send five to seven focused, carefully crafted questions by email. The subject answers in their own time, in their own words, with no editing beyond light formatting. The result is a concise, readable exchange — typically 600 to 900 words — that delivers genuine insight without demanding hours of preparation or scheduling.

Email Q&As are published as a standalone interview format on the website, clearly labelled so readers know the format they are reading. They move faster than long-form interviews, which means we can respond to breaking developments — a major approval, a significant deal, a policy announcement — and get an expert perspective published within days.

Best for: Rapid-response commentary on breaking news, quick perspectives from busy senior leaders, and voices based outside major Canadian cities who are harder to reach for traditional interviews.

Podcast — The Pharma Canada Conversations

The Pharma Canada Conversations is our audio interview series — a podcast built for the Canadian pharmaceutical community, available on all major platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music.

Each episode runs between 30 and 50 minutes and follows a structured but conversational format. Unlike a written interview, the podcast captures something no transcript can — tone, candour, the pause before a difficult answer, and the energy of a genuine exchange between two people who care deeply about the same industry.

Episodes are recorded remotely, making geography no barrier. A regulatory expert in Ottawa, a biotech founder in Vancouver, a biosimilar specialist in Montreal — all are equally accessible. Each episode is accompanied by a full written summary and key takeaways published on the website, so readers who prefer text never miss the substance of the conversation.
