PixCell Medical Expands HemoScreen Access in Canada

  • PixCell Medical has entered the Canadian market after receiving a Health Canada Class III Medical Device License for HemoScreen, its point-of-care hematology analyzer, alongside a new distribution partnership with Inter Medico.
  • HemoScreen enables rapid, lab-quality 5-part differential CBC testing from a drop of venous or capillary blood, using AI-powered digital imaging and proprietary Viscoelastic Focusing technology in a disposable cartridge.
  • The analyzer requires no maintenance, calibration, external reagents or liquid waste, supporting decentralized testing in hospitals, community clinics, oncology centers and rural or remote healthcare settings.
  • The Health Canada authorization, following PixCell’s MDSAP certification, and Inter Medico partnership establish the foundation for commercial expansion and broader access to near-patient hematology testing across Canada.

Takeaways:

PixCell Medical’s Health Canada license and distribution partnership with Inter Medico give HemoScreen a direct route into Canada’s growing point-of-care diagnostics market, particularly hospitals, community clinics, oncology centers, and rural or remote settings. Its portable, maintenance-free design could help providers perform rapid 5-part CBC testing closer to patients, while expanding access to decentralized hematology testing and strengthening PixCell’s position in the Canadian market.
